Discriminating Lyme neuroborreliosis from other neuro-inflammatory diseases using levels of CXCL13 in cerebrospinal fluid.

CXCL13 in CSF could be an important component for diagnosing Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB).

Levels of intrathecal CXCL13 were determined in fifty-eight LNB patients and 210 controls; sensitivity was 88% and specificity was 89% (cut-off 250pg/ml). In the diagnosis of LNB elevated levels of CXCL13 can aid the diagnosis, but levels should be interpreted with care.
