Pancreatic cancer: Radioactive Listeria delivers killer hit to metastatic pancreatic cancer Katrina Ray Abstract Effective therapies for pancreatic cancer are urgently needed—the disease has a notoriously poor prognosis. Now, a new study reports that a live attenuated bacterium tagged with a radioisotope can deliver a lethal radioactive dose to pancreatic cancer metastases, killing tumour cells in vivo in a mouse model without harming the normal tissue.
